Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you have questions about physical therapy, sports performance coaching, or just want to know more about what we offer, we're here to help.

How do I get started?

Give us a call or text at our clinic number 815-277-9049, email us at team@methodathletics.com, or fill out your contact information at the link below and we will get back to you as soon as possible!

How does the drop-in process work?

Our drop-ins are a single-use purchase for our Method Powergym. Please make sure to fill out your information entirely to ensure you receive your code in a timely manner. This code can be used to gain entry into Method Powergym 24/7. Once you purchase a daily or weekly pass, you'll receive an entry code via email or text. You can use this code to access the gym any time between 5 AM and 11 PM. Your card will automatically be billed each day for drop-ins, so no need to repurchase unless you're extending your visit.

Do you only treat competitive athletes?

Definitely not! We do, and LOVE, to treat non-athletes (and recreational athletes). In fact, we have had great success with patients who have not responded positively to physical therapy under "traditional" models due to our one-on-one treatment practices and unique facility. If you are experiencing pain, give us a call, shoot us a message, or leave your contact information below and we would be happy to help.

Do I need a physician referral to a physical therapist to get an appointment?

No! Although many clinics still require a physician's referral to be seen, we do not. As Doctors of Physical Therapy, our level of education allows us to appropriately identify whether or not conditions are within our scope of practice. Evidence has shown that being seen by a physical therapist before a physician for musculoskeletal injuries saves you both time and money as well as improves patient outcomes and reduces risk of future injury. If there is a problem we cannot treat, we will be able to work with your physician or find you one to get you the care you need.

What will my first session look like?

During our first session together, we will perform a comprehensive movement assessment detailing our thoughts and observations, including a movement diagnosis and a detailed plan of action. Your "movement diagnosis" is a non-medical, physical therapy-based diagnosis that clearly identifies the movements which are suspected to be the cause of your mechanical pain. We live and breathe transparency and education, so get ready to learn and grow together.

During your evaluation, a Doctor of Physical Therapy will appropriately identify the cause of your symptoms, not just the source. Athletic and recreational injuries at one joint are often caused in part or whole by deficits or limitations at another, and unfortunately they often get lost by therapists in what we call "symptom tunnel vision". We will assess the specific movements and activities that you would like to return to and discuss specifically how we will work together to accomplish your goals.

Whether you are recovering post-operatively or dealing with an overuse injury, we will give you the attention to detail you deserve. Each and every patient is a member of our family, our team, and we treat you as such.

Do you accept my insurance?

See our list of in-network partners. Our billing team will work with your carrier to provide clearly estimated costs of care upon initial evaluation based on your existing coverage.  You can also give us a call at 815-277-9049 to discuss estimated costs of care/verify coverage with our clinic.

What conditions do you treat?

As orthopedic therapists, we excel in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions including acute and overuse injuries as well as pre- and post-operative care. Neck, shoulder, elbow, back, hip, knee, ankle or foot pain? We have you covered. Not sure if we can help you? Fill out our contact form and we promise to get back to you as soon as we can.

How long of a wait?

We usually have appointments available within the next 1-3 days. Evaluations are typically performed on weekdays with Saturdays available for additional treatment sessions as needed.
